Elk Lake and Montrose were the only two programs active between the league openers on
December 18 and the Christmas holiday.
Towanda doubled up Elk Lake over the middle two quarters 30-15 to pull away with a 53-44 win
before the holiday break and the third consecutive night of play for the Lady Warriors.
Elk Lake opened with a 17-15 advantage as Kylie Shingler had seven points in the opening
quarter.
However, the Lady Warriors would not answer that production over the next two quarters as
Madi Casselbury had 10 of her team-high 14 points over the two quarters as Elk Lake fell
behind 45-32 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the final stanza
Celeste Clark scored all five of her points in the final stanza as the Lady Warriors outscored the
Lady Knights 12-8.
Casselbury led the way with 14 while Shingler finished with 12.
The night before the Lady Warriors traveled to Benton for another District IV matchup in which
baskets were hard to come by in a 34-28 loss.
Elk Lake opened with just four points in the opening quarter to trail 12-4. However, Shingler and
Lauren Youells combined for eight points and Elk Lake cut the lead to 17-16 at intermission.
Both teams struggled in the third as Benton out scored the Lady Warriors just 6-4, and Elk Lake
managed just eight more in the final stanza.
Shingler led the way with eight points while Casselbury added six, with Youells and Kendyl
Weisgold each adding five points.
Riverside limited Montrose to just three field goals in the first half and rolled to a 48-30 win over
the Lady Meteors.
Sadie Jones had five points in the first half as the Lady Meteors trailed 27-10. Montrose stayed
within one in the second half losing the final two quarters 21-20.
Molly Weller paced Montrose with nine points while Jones finished with seven and Libby Bush
had six.
