MaryJane “Jane” LaBonte Wilson, 96, of Silver Lake, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2025.
Born June 5, 1929, in Binghamton, New York, Jane was the daughter of Mumford and Catherine (Keenan) Crossley. She graduated from Rosemont College with degrees in English and Mathematics and went on to share her love of learning as a dedicated teacher for 20 years at Binghamton Central High School. There, she taught Math, English, and her favorite subject—Ethnic Literature—leaving a lasting impact on countless students.
Jane had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and an adventurous spirit. She taught her six children to swim, ski and skate, delighted in cross-country skiing under the moonlight, and cherished swimming in the lake. Jane dedicated her life to volunteering, contributing her time and energy to Camp Amahami Girl Scout Camp, promoting literacy as a volunteer, supporting the Red Cross, and actively participating in Friends of Salt Springs and the Silver Lake Ladies Club.
Above all, Jane loved her family and friends, and her life was a testament to that devotion.
She is survived by her children: Mark (Carolyn) LaBonte of Bolton, MA; Andrew (Cheryl) LaBonte of Prior Lake, MN; Frank Jr./Pierre (Jeanne) LaBonte of Montrose, PA; David LaBonte of Franklin, TN; Claire LaBonte of Brackney, PA; and Babette Simpson (Robert) of Pen Argyl, PA; along with 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Jane was predeceased by her first husband of 43 years, Frank S. LaBonte; her second husband of 16 years, David M. Wilson; daughter-in-law Colleen LaBonte; and granddaughter Caitlin Oviedo.
Her legacy of love, learning, and laughter will live on in all who knew her. The family is grateful for the support of Jane’s caregivers, particularly Abby Rounds and Lori Schuster. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jane’s name can be made to the Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 133, Brackney, PA 18812 or Friends of Salt Springs Park, P.O.
