To Santa

12-24-25

By Carole Canfield
Dear Santa:
I’m hoping this letter finds you fit and healthy for your trip on Christmas Eve. Things here are ok, I’m in a nursing home, a hospital or alone at home, and wish to ask you to stop here tonight. There’s not much an elderly person needs at this stage of the game, except love and attention. However, more visits from my children would make the top of my list. They are all so busy working and with their own things to do. Little do they know that just seeing them, heck even a phone call, would be the best gift most of us would treasure forever.
Forever is not that far away now, and I shudder to think of all the issues they will have to deal with: the rising costs of necessities, the lack of work, the lack of enough people at work to do the jobs they are required to do, the entire economy, the possible threat of an upcoming war, danger on our streets where where we all live, and hunger. I ask you and pray to God, this war issue never comes to be fruitful. I only wish my family and friends peace, love, family and togetherness and love of our fellow man.
Yeah, that’s it, just like the good Lord planned it so very long ago on a midnight clear in Bethlehem, among a host of angels, stable animals, a crib of straw and hay, kings, shepherds, worshipers and full of the miracle of innocent love.
Yes Santa, this is my wish for Christmas and from 2025 through 2026 and beyond “Peace and Goodwill toward man!”
Thank you and goodnight!
Signed,
An elderly fan
