Anita J. Griffis, 100, of Montrose, PA, went to be with her Savior whom she loved on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. She was born May 23, 1925, in Forest Lake, PA, the daughter of
Floyd L and Jennie (Sivers) Coy.
She and her husband, Donald, operated a dairy farm. She milked cows, maintained a garden, and assisted at their butcher shop. Additionally, she was a school bus driver for over 20 years.
She was known as a fierce competitor at board games as her grandchildren can attest. Her chocolate chip cookies and strawberry parfait pie are well known throughout the area.
She was a member of Forest Lake Baptist Church for over 90 years, Anita served as Sunday
School secretary and church financial secretary. She especially enjoyed sewing and serving
alongside the church ladies in the Women’s Alive group.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon [Richard] Barondeau; two sons, Gary [Pamela] Griffis and
Larry [Sandra] Griffis, 4 grandchildren; Adam [Shannon] Griffis, Amanda [Nathan] Small,
Stephen [Laura] Barondeau, and Allison Griffis, 3 great-grandchildren; Evan Small, Benjamin,
and Samantha Barondeau, and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 41 years, her parents and her sister, Vonda Nash predeceased her.
