Lady Eagles take top perch, Gelinger hits 1K

A battle of undefeated teams and a career milestone highlighted the week’s girls basketball action. Mountain View outscored Montrose 45-28 over the final three quarters to coast to a 58-36 win over the Lady Meteors.
Leading 14-10 after the first quarter, Mountain View turned up the defensive pressure in the second quarter to take a 29-18 lead into the locker room. Montrose kept pace in the third quarter as Mountain View outscored the Lady Meteors 12-11 in the quarter. But the Lady Eagles turned it up a notch in the final quarter, out scoring Montrose 18-9 for the final tally.
Addison Kilmer led the Lady Eagles with a double-double, scoring 30 points and corralling 15 rebounds. She also had three blocks. Aubrey Sanders added 13 points and 10 assists for her own double-double.
Sadie Jones led Montrose with 13 points and Molly Weller added 11. After a slow start, Mountain View outscored Forest City 34-8 over the middle quarters to roll to a 54-22 win and remain undefeated in league play.
The Lady Eagles led just 8-6 after the first quarter but outscored the Lady Foresters 16-3 in the second and 18-5 in the third quarter. Addison Kilmer finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds and blocked six shots to pace Mountain View. Emily Trichilo added seven points while Aubrey Sanders and Ireland Shea each had six and Sanders had nine assists. Michaela Zaveri had eight points to lead Forest City.

The Lady Raiders led 35-15 at the half as Gelinger led the way with 18 points while Melody Bloomer added 13 and Lyndee Barbour finished with 10. Aundrea Pevec had 16 points to lead the Lady Foresters. Montrose rebounded from their loss to Mountain View by doubling up Lackawanna Trail in the
first half and cruising to a 56-40 win.
Sadie Jones scored nine points and Junie McGee added six as the Lady Meteors opened with a 20-10 advantage. Jones added four more in the second quarter and the Lady Meteors led 31-15 at intermission. Jones finished with 20 points to lead Montrose. Molly Weller added nine and Myckenna Kublo added seven. Elk Lake out scored Susquehanna 41-13 during the middle quarters to roll to a 54-19 win over the Lady Sabers.
Madi Casselbury had 25 points to lead Elk Lake. Kendyl Weisgold and Laci Ayotte each added eight. Marley Smith and Esther Davis each had five to pace Susquehanna. Blue Ridge put up 45 points in the first half and crushed Carbondale 63-27. Abigail Gelinger had 26 points to lead the Lady Raiders. Lyndee Barbour finished with 13 points while Addison Welch and Melody Bloomer each had 10 points.
In non-league action Forest City out scored Tunkhannock 14-7 after halftime to pull away for a 35-25 win over Tunkhannock. Kayla Pecko led the way for the Lady Foresters with 10 points and Claire Lombardi added nine.
