The Elk Lake Elementary gymnasium was filled to near capacity in the latest chapter of the
intense rivalry between the Lady Warriors and Mountain View. The Lady Eagles used their patented pressure defense and a “below average” night from star Addison Kilmer to claim the road victory and set up Monday night’s showdown with Montrose.
Kilmer, who entered the game averaging an insane 40 points per game in Lackawanna League Division III play, scored eight points in the opening quarter and the Lady Eagles surrendered just a pair of three-point field goals to Madi Casselbury in the first two minutes to lead 10-6.
Both offenses were stymied in the second quarter as Mountain View extended their lead 18-13 aided by a pair of three-point field goals from Sophomore Emma Thatcher. Kylie Shingler kept Elk Lake closed with a 4-5 performance from the free throw line. After intermission Aubrey Sanders – who sat out the final five minutes of the first half with three fouls – scored seven points while Kilmer and Trichilo each added a key three-pointer as the Lady Eagles extended their lead to 33-24.
