Local grapplers got into the action the first full week after the holidays.
Montrose won two of the five bouts wrestled, and used six forfeits to get by Elk Lake 48-22.
David Carter and Carl Nolt had back-to-back falls to lead the Meteors. Carter pinned Elk Lake’s Jayson Crawford at 139 pounds in the first period and Nolt followed with a second-period fall of Whalen Kinney at 145 pounds.
Sawyer Brander (107), Grady Loureiro (121), Delos Stone (133), Lucas Brookes (152), Wyatt
Steele (160), and Lincoln Hobbs (172) collected forfeits for the Meteors. Elk Lake was led by Michael Hillier and Ethan Smith who each earned a technical fall for the Warriors.
Hillier won 20-4 over Jeffrey Kany at 189 pounds and Smith earned his at 285 pounds with an
18-1 victory over William Frasier Jr.
Faith Tracy (114) and Colby Ruark (215) each collected forfeit wins for the Warriors.
The Meteors also took down Mountain View 54-6 collecting four pins.
Grady Loureiro pinned Kaylynn Handler at 121 pounds while Delos Stone pinned Ada
Chamberlain at 133 pounds.
Lucas Brookes got the fall at 145 pounds taking down Haydn Barto and at 215 pounds Corey
Anderson pinned Matthew Jacob.
Earning forfeits for the Meteors were Sawyer Brander (107), Carl Nolt (139), Wyatt Steele (152),
Jeffrey Kany (189), and William Frasier Jr (285).
Mountain earned their six points at 172 pounds where Trey Hummel pinned Lincoln Hobbs.
Valley View rallied and got pins on the final two matches to defeat Montrose 42-36.
The Meteors earned five wins by fall with Sawyer Brander getting a quick 36-second pin at 107
pounds while Wyatt Steele was even swifter at 152 pounds taking his opponent in just 14
seconds.
Montrose also got first period pins from Carl Nolt at 145 pounds and Jeffrey Kany at 189
pounds. Delos Stone earned his fall at 133 pounds in the second period.
