Warriner leads Lady Warriors’ swim to split

Elk Lake used a variety of weapons to earn a split in a pair of Lackawanna League matches and
a strong performance at the Ernie Shartle Invitational in a busy week of swim action.
The Lady Warriors opened with a 104-71 win over Wallenpaupack. Brynn Warriner led the way with a pair of freestyle victories and was part of the winning relay team. Warriner claimed the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.92 and won the 100-yard freestyle in 56.84.
Avery Kerr, who finished second to Warriner in the 50-yard freestyle, was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:26.79.
Taylor States racked up 152.5 points in winning the one-meter dive event while Chelsea Grosvenor took the 100-yard butterfly in 1:09.16 and Alayna Stang won the 500-yard freestyle in 6:36.74.
Allison Long was second in a pair of events finishing behind Stang in the 500-yard freestyle while also finishing runner up in the 200-yard freestyle with her time of 2:26.26. Grosvenor was also second in the 100-yard backstroke and Lydia Howell finished second in the 100-yard butterfly.
McKenna Puterbaugh added a second place finish in the 200-yard individual medley to go along
with her third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle. Stang finished third in the 200-yard individual medley.
The Lady Warriors swept the relays with Grosvenor, Kerr, Warriner, and Stang opening with a win in the 200-yard medley in a time of 2:09.06.
Warrinner also teamed with States, Kerr, and Grosvenor to win the 200-yard freestyle while Howell, Nora Kaetzel, Trinity Bell and Perez finished third.
Stang, Kaetzel, Long, and Puterbaugh won the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:44.91. In a narrow 93-83 loss to Delaware Valley, Grosvenor and Warriner paced the attack with a pair of wins individually and in a relay race.
Grosvenor won the individual medley in a time of 2:34.97 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:04.99. Warriner won both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races, capturing the 50 in 26.19 and the 100 in 56.87.
They teamed with Long and Kerr to win the the 200-yard freestyle relay and Grosvenor also finished first in the 200-yard relay with Puterbaugh, Kerr, and Stang.
States won the one-meter dive with 141.75 points and Stang captured the 500-yard freestyle in 6:28.97. Puterbaugh won the 100-yard backstroke.
Stang was also second in the 200-yard freestyle and Kerr was second in the 100-yard breaststroke. Howell, Puterbaugh, Long and Warriner were second in the 400-yard freestyle.
At the Shartle Invitational, Warriner won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.50 and was joined in the top 20 by Kerr and Stang who finished 14th and 15th respectively.
Warriner also anchored the second-place 400-yard freestyle relay teaming with Grosvenor, Stang and Kerr. The quartet also added a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Stang finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle while Grosvenor added a pair of sixth-place finished in the 100-yard butterfly and backstroke races. Kerr was 13th in the 100-yard breast stroke and Puterbaugh was 14th in the 100-yard backstroke.
