Warriors battle in pool

The thin Elk Lake boys’ swim squad gave their best effort in a pair of league meets and had some strong finishes at a weekend Invitational. Wallenpaupack swept the relays and defeated Elk Lake 97-61 in a Lackawanna League swim meet.
Isaac Dilmore and Isiah Jones each won a pair of events to highlight the Warriors’ efforts. Dilmore captured both the 200 and 500-yard freestyle races, winning the 200 in a time of 2:14.67 and taking the 500 in 6:23.59.
Jones won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:26.50 and captured the 100-yard back stroke in
1:07.72 with Blaize Ball finishing third in the backstroke. Matt Buffington had a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly coming in at 1:14.48 and was third in the 500-yard freestyle.
Aside from Ball and Buffington the Warriors also had third-place finishes from Nico Christian in
the 50-yard freestyle and Alan Perez in the 100-yard freestyle.
Dilmore and Jones also were part of two second-place relay finishes. The pair teamed with Malachi Baier and Christian to take second in the 200 and 400-yard relay races while Ball, Buffington, Perez and Aidan Hollister were third in the 400-yard relay.
Hollister anchored the 200-yard medley relay with Ball, Perez and Buffington to finish second. Delaware Valley used their superior depth to defeat the Warriors 130-43 with Jones earning the lone Elk Lake win, taking the 200-yard freestyle in 1:58.27.
Jones added a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:08.05 while Dilmore was second in the 100-yard freestyle race finishing in 59.48 seconds. Dilmore and Jones teamed with Christian and Baier to finish second in the 200-yard freestyle relay coming in at 1:48.87. Hollister, Perez, Ball and Buffington were third.
Perez joined Jones, Dilmore and Christian to finish second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:56.50.
Ball, Perez, Buffington, and Baier were third in the 200-yard medley relay while Dilmore was third in the 200-yard individual medley. Perez finished third in the 50-yard freestyle and Buffington finished third in the 500-yard freestyle race.
At the Ernie Shartle Invitational Jones had three top-ten finishes to highlight the Elk Lake efforts at the event.
Jones was fifth in the 500-yard freestyle race finishing in 5:24.29. Buffington and Julian Bernard
joined him in the top 20 with Buffington placing 15th and Bernard earning 20th.
In the 200-yard freestyle event Jones finished sixth and was tenth in the 50-yard freestyle race.
Dilmore, Ball, Baier, and Jones placed 13th in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:50.15.
