David C. Bishop Obit

David C. Bishop, 77 of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully with his family holding his hand on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. If you knew Dave, you were guaranteed to be greeted with a smile and a laugh. Dave was born on November 22, 1948 in Meshoppen, Pennsylvania. He spent his early years on the family farm in Auburn. After graduating from Elk Lake School in 1966, he served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was awarded several medals from his time in military service.

Shortly after returning home, he moved to Hawaii and then settled in Dallas, Texas where he spent 35 years serving his community at the Parkland Health Hospital. Dave, like his mother, loved to be outside and work in his garden and koi pond. He loved to travel with family venturing to Ireland and beyond. He was a loving brother, uncle, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his father Duane R. Bishop, his mother Edith F. (Polmatier) Bishop, brothers Duane P. Bishop, George R. Bishop, and William E. Bishop. Dave is survived by his loving family including his sister Gail Burke (Jerry), Meshoppen, PA; Sister in law Sheila Bishop (George), Meshoppen, PA; Sister in law Judy Bishop (Duane), Meshoppen, PA; Nieces and Nephews: Duane Bishop, Jr (Candi), Lymanville, PA; Sally Emmons (Richard), Springville, PA; Theresa Burke, Meshoppen, PA; Stacy Bishop-Cobb, Montrose, PA; George Bishop (Sue), Meshoppen, PA; Brian Burke (Pam), Meshoppen, PA; Art Bishop, Meshoppen, PA; Patrick Burke (Laura), Meshoppen PA; Michelle Gazzillo (John), Meshoppen, PA and countless great nieces and nephews. He has many close neighbors and friends in Dallas including Don and Ashley and he cherished his Facebook friends near and far. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
