The Lady Warriors soundly defeated Wyoming Seminary, 6-0, in the opening round of the Class AA softball playoffs Monday (May 18).
Amanda Mowry led Elk Lake going 3 for 3 in the batter’s box, including a homerun, a double and a single.
Whitney Tyler pitched the entire game for Elk Lake, allowing only two hits.
The Lady Warriors started out hitting, scoring three runs in the first inning with Tyler, Catey McAleer and Darci Warner crossing the plate for Elk Lake. Catey McAleer was the division leader for runs scored at the end of the regular season with 20; Warner carried the highest batting average on the team and was ranked second in the division (.526).

In the second inning, Amanda Mowry singled and was advanced to second by Tyler. Mowry took third on a passed ball; and scored on a second passed ball by sliding into home plate and beating the tag.
With a runner on first, Sem’s chance of scoring in the third were ended with Tyler retiring two at the plate, and a foul tip caught by catcher, Rose Warner, ended their hopes of scoring.
Tyler had a four-pitch fourth inning, with help from the field. McAleer snagged a foul ball on the third base side; Becca Phillips caught a pop-up; and a runner was thrown out at first.
At bat, Mowry doubled and scored on an RBI by Bethany Ruhf.
The Lady Warriors added to their lead in the sixth when Lindsey Dudock hit a single to get on base; she advanced on a sacrifice by Emily Kasson. Mowry then hit a homerun to left field.
The Lady Warriors advanced to the second round of playoffs where they were eliminated by Lakeland.
EL eliminated in 2nd round
At Elk Lake, No. 6 Lakeland scored a five-inning 15-1 victory over the Lady Warriors in the Class AA playoff game Wednesday.

The loss eliminated 11-5 Elk Lake from the tournament.
No. 9 Mid Valley took an 8-1 win over No. 8 Montrose in a District 2 Class AA first-round game on Tuesday.
Lacy Nealy scored the run for Montrose.
In Class A softball at Susquehanna, Viktoria Layton had two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs to lead No. 6 Blue Ridge, 9-2, over the Lady Sabers on Tuesday.
Hayliegh Fekette drove in three runs and scored twice for the Lady Raiders.
Baily Barnes had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs for No. 3 Susquehanna.
At Lackawanna Trail, Kasey Buck hit a two-run home run to lead the second-seeded Lady Lions over Forest City, 4-2.
Heather Agentovich singled and scored a run for No. 7 Forest City.
Lackawanna Trail hosted Blue Ridge in the semifinal on Thursday.
