Commissioners plant oak tree for Arbor Day

In honor of Arbor Day, Susquehanna County Commissioners Elizabeth Arnold, Alan Hall and Judy Herschel planted an oak tree Friday, April 24, at the county maintenance building located just off Route 29 in Bridgewater Twp.

Arnold said, “We realize that this Coronavirus pandemic we are living through right now is a historical event. We have chosen to plant an Oak tree because it is the national tree and one of the most loved trees. It is a symbol of strength, morale, resistance, and knowledge.”

In remarks made prior to the planting, Arnold dedicated the tree to county employees and residents who came together to help with the county food drive. “We were able to provide three meals for approximately 1,000 people by the giving and generosity of the people in this county. We ‘thank you’ And we are so very proud of our county,” Arnold said.
