Elk Lake School-Based Health Center closure

Dear Editor,
As a private foundation with a mission to improve the health of people in Northeastern Pennsylvania, Moses Taylor Foundation was disappointed and surprised to hear of the impending closure of NEPA Community Health Care’s Elk Lake school-based health center.
When our organization provided financial support for a remodel of the Center in 2022, we were thrilled at the potential to improve health care in Susquehanna County by reducing transportation, scheduling, and other access barriers that families face, particularly in our more rural communities. With its closure, the Elk Lake School District and all families previously accessing care at the location will face new hardships.
Please know that Moses Taylor Foundation stands at the ready to engage with any community partners who may be able to help fill the resulting gap in services. We are committed to the residents of Susquehanna County and hope to continue to be part of solutions that help us all live healthier lives. Sincerely,
