Grapplers hit the mats

Each of the county programs got action the first two weeks of the high school wrestling season.
Blue Ridge had an impressive stretch picking up wins over Mid Valley (45-25), Western Wayne (45-22), and North Pocono (46-25).
Against Mid Valley Trinity Lord (107), Dante Tanzini (114), Aidan Tanzini (121), Donovin Baldwin (160), and Torin Fissel (215) picked up pins while Giovanni Annesi (127) had a technical fall, Zach Krupovich (172) won a major decision, and Brice Woodruff (133) claimed a forfeit.
In the Western Wayne win Aidan and Dante Tanzini along with Annesi collected pins while Woodruff and Baldwin claimed technical falls and Trinity Lord added a forfeit.
In the North Pocono victory Aidan Tanzini, Annesi, Woodruff, Dajan Pedro, Krupovich, and Ryder Hobart each had pins. Conner Rieman and Dante Tanzini claimed technical falls.
At the Gary Woodruff Memorial Duals at Wyalusing High School the Raiders went 1-4 with Krupovich leading the way with four pins on the day while Woodruff had three technical falls.
Hobart, Annesi, and Aidan Tanzini each had a pair of pins while Hobart added a technical fall to his record.
Dante Tanzini, Richard Lord, Dajan Pedro, Rieman and Baldwin each had one pin.
Montrose opened the season with a 44-18 loss to Northeast Bradford as Grady Loureimo and Carl Nolt each had pins and William Frasier picked up a forfeit.
At the Woodruff Duals the Meteors went 2-4 including a 36-35 win over Blue Ridge.
Nolt led the way collecting three pins while Loureimo had three wins collecting a pin, technical fall and a decision. Wyatt Steele had a pair of pins and a major decision and Frasier had two pins. Collecting a pin were Corey Anderson, Sawyer Brander and Lincoln Hobbs while Delos Stone had one decision.
Elk Lake also participated in the Woodruff Duals, going 0-4 in reported matches. Michael Hillier led the way with four victories as he earned two pins and a pair of forfeits. Ben Hillier had a pair of pins and a forfeit win to pick up three victories while Colby Ruark and Ethan Smith each had two pins.
Mountain View suffered a pair of losses in their opening weeks. The Eagles fell to North Pocono 57-12 as Ada Chamberlain and Trey Hummel each collected a pin.
Lackawanna Trail defeated Mountain View 39-18. Hummel had a quick 34-second pin in his match at 172 pounds while Matthew Jacob and Brody Vantegar each earned forfeit victories.
