MONTROSE — Christmas gift and food bags are an annual event sponsored through Interfaith which provides bags for seniors, adults and a gift for kids. Interfaith’s Diane Stevens and Volunteer Jim Snell hand out the bags just before Christmas on Dec. 17 and 18. This year between the three Interfaith locations, Montrose, Susquehanna and Forest City, about 1,500 to 2,000 bags were distributed, including a toy for more than 650 children across the county. The bags all were filled and provided Christmas dinner fixings. Included in these bags were ham, mashed potatoes, veggies, stuffing, hot chocolate packets, brownie mix and more. The “senior” bags included items such as a tightly knit cap, a cloth bag to hang over the walkers, a thermometer and antibacterial wipes. Over 50 Interfaith workers and volunteers prepared and distributed these gifts.
