Elk Lake swim headed into the Christmas Holiday break with a pair of convincing wins as both the boys’ and girls’ teams defeated Valley View at home.
The Warriors swept the relays and saw Matt Buffington, Isaiah Jones, and Nico Christian each
win a pair of individual events as Elk Lake took down Valley View 91-8.
Buffington won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:37.74 placing ahead of teammate Malachi
Baier, who was second at 2:52.39. He also captured the 100-yard butterfly winning in 1:20.89.
Jones won the 200-yard intermediate with a time of 2:28.06 and the 500-yard freestyle in
5:44.11.
Christian won the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events. He won the 50 in a time of 27.48 just ahead
of teammate Blaize Ball who finished in 29.16; and with a time of 1:04.94 he captured the 100-yard ahead of teammate Julian Bernard who finished in 1:21.74
Ball added a win in the 100-yard backstroke finishing in a time of 1:27.91, 12 seconds ahead of
Bernard, who finished in 1:39.05. Perez captured the 100-yard breast stroke with a time of 1:35.90.
Bernard, Perez, Buffington and Ball won the 200-yard medley relay in 2:30 while Bernard and
Buffington teamed with Jones and Baier to win the 400-yard freestyle in 4:57.65.
Ball, Baier, Christian and Jones won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:57.53.
Avery Kerr captured two freestyle events and was part of two winning relay teams to lead the
Lady Warriors to a 90-39 win over Valley View.
Kerr won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:25:48 and the 100-yard freestyle in 1:04.
Allison Long was second in both races finishing with a 2:28.53 in the 200 freestyle and a 1:08.98 in the 100 freestyle.
Kerr and Long were both part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that captured the event in a
time of 1:59.18. Joining the duo were Chelsea Grosvenor, and Alayna Stang.
Joining Kerr on the winning 400-yard freestyle relay were McKenna Puterbaugh, Alex Perez,
and Stang with a winning time of 4:55.35.
They were followed by teammates Long, Grosvenor, Trinity Bell, and Lydia Howell who finished
with a time of 4:56.82.
Grosvenor, Perez, Bell and Puterbaugh also captured the 200-yard medley relay with a time of
2:23.09.
Stang also had an individual win as she captured the 200-yard intermediate in a time of 2:58.54
while Grosvenor won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:06.53 and Perez won the 100-yard
breast stroke in a time of 1:35.77.
Taylor States had a 132.4 in winning the one-meter diving competition and Puterbaugh added
another silver for the Lady Warriors finishing second in the 500-yard freestyle race in a time of
6:45.62.
