Rivalry wins and approaching milestones marked the final week of first half league play for local
girls basketball teams.
On their Coaches vs. Cancer Night, Mountain View scored 28 points in the second quarter for the second game in a row to pull away from Blue Ridge in a 70-44 victory. After the Lady Eagles opened with a 10-0 lead, the Lady Raiders roared back to cut the lead to 15-14 by the end of the quarter as Abi Gelinger outdueled Addison Kilmer 11-8, in a game featuring the top two scorers in Lackawanna League Division III.

Kilmer won the second quarter battle scoring 23 of the 28 Mountain View points, enabling the
Lady Eagles to build a 43-29 halftime lead. Mountain View turned up the defensive pressure after intermission holding the Lady Raiders to seven points while expanding the lead to 58-36. Kilmer added six more points and Aubrey Sanders had five in the quarter.
Kilmer finished with a double-double scoring 41 points with 10 rebounds while adding five blocks and five steals. Sanders finished with nine points and six assists. The output put Kilmer at 1,973 career points. Mountain View was scheduled at Susquehanna last night and travels to Lackawanna Trail on Friday. Elk Lake opened with 17 first quarter points and fended off a second half rally to avenge a first half loss to Forest City 34-26.
Madi Casselbury had nine points and the Lady Warrior defense held the Lady Foresters to a single field goal to build a 17-4 lead. The lead grew to 25-7 by halftime as Forest City was again held to a lone field goal and four different Lady Warriors scored.

Fueled by a change in defense Forest City turned the tables in the third quarter outscoring Elk
Lake 13-1 as Claire Lombardi and Kayla Pecko each scored five points. In the final quarter Casselbury got the Elk Lake offense back on track scoring six of the eight Lady Warrior points to finish with 17 points. Pecko led Forest City with nine points and Lombardi finished with seven.
Montrose scored 16 points in each of the first two quarters and held Susquehanna to three first-half field goals to roll to a 52-16 victory to open the second half of league play to stay on Mountain View’s heels in the Division III standings. Sadie Jones scored nine points in the opening quarter as the Lady Meteors opened with a 16-4 advantage.
Jones added six more in the second quarter with Carly Frey and Vivian Nabywaniec adding five
each as the lead grew to 32-9. Nabywaniec knocked down three three-pointers in the third quarter and led Montrose with 19 points while Jones finished with 18. Lauren Huyck led the Lady Sabers with five points. Erupting for 28 points in the second quarter, Mountain View broke open the game enroute to a
68-33 win over Carbondale to finish the first half of Lackawanna League Division III play
undefeated.

Leading 16-10 after the first quarter, the Lady Eagles expanded the lead by 20 as Emma Thatcher and Addison Kilmer combined for 23 of the 28 Mountain View points. Kilmer finished with 36 points, eight rebounds and five blocks for Mountain View. Thatcher finished with a career-high 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists while Aubrey Sanders added eight points, 12 assists and seven steals. Emily Trichilo chipped in with seven points Montrose doubled up Elk Lake in the fourth quarter to rally past Elk Lake with a 42-37 win.

Carly Frey and Molly Weller combined for nine points as the Lady Meteors outscored the Lady Warriors 15-7 in the final quarter. Elk Lake jumped out to a 11-6 lead after the first quarter behind four points each from Madi Casselbury and Kylie Shingler.
Montrose cut the lead to 20-19 at intermission behind eight points from Sadie Jones. Elk Lake expanded the lead to three outscoring the Lady Meteors 10-8 in the third quarter. Jones led the way for Montrose finishing with 12 points while Frey had 11 and Myckenna Kublo added eight. Shinger led Elk Lake with 11 and Casselbury added nine.
In another rivalry game, Blue Ridge exploded for 46 first-half points and held Susquehanna to single digits all four quarters to roll to a 66-25 win.
Abi Gelinger scored 13 of her 24 points in the opening quarter as the Lady Raiders opened with a 26-5 lead. Lyndee Barbour added 20 points for Blue Ridge and Addison Welch finished with 14 points.
Madison Beach led Susquehanna with eight points.
