MONTROSE — Neither frigid temperatures nor icy winds could keep ladies from filling the United Fire Company hall on Feb. 6 as more than 250 women from Montrose and surrounding communities turned out for the company’s first‑ever Ladies Night Purse Bingo.

United Fire Company’s event organizer and Montrose borough secretary Alyssa Sprout and daughter Presley called the bingo numbers and ran all the activities at the first Purse Bingo event on Feb. 6. Photo Provided
The event, designed as both a fundraiser and a fun night out, exceeded expectations from the moment doors opened. Laughter, friendly competition, and the unmistakable excitement of bingo filled the room as attendees vied for designer purses and enjoyed an evening of camaraderie.
The idea for the event came from Firefighter Alyssa Sprout, who was inspired after attending a purse bingo elsewhere. Despite joking that she’s “not a purse lady,” Sprout said the joy and enthusiasm she witnessed at that event convinced her that Montrose needed a night just like it.
“I threw out the idea of hosting a ladies night after attending a purse bingo myself,” Sprout said. “The fellas at United let me roll with this fundraising idea, not knowing what the end result may be, but boy did the ladies turn out for a good time. I can’t wait to start planning the next Ladies Night at the United Fire Company!”
United Fire Company extended heartfelt appreciation to all who contributed to the evening’s success, noting the tremendous support from attendees and local sponsors alike. Thank you to everyone who made this event unforgettable — and we’ll see you at the next United Fire Company fundraiser.
