MONTROSE — Bargain Bliss by ADK is shutting its doors in April after almost two years in business. The antique store, located right next door to the Independent on Public Avenue, is currently liquidating its inventory with a 75% off sale.
“I have a new business and I make too much more money, and I don’t have the time to devote to it,” said owner Craig Harvey. “It was my baby when we opened it up, because I lived here and I worked it six days a week and you know, now it’s onwards and upwards.” The shop opened around August of 2024. Harvey said business has been regular with inventory changing daily, with him bringing truckloads of stuff in for customers.
“It’s absurd how busy it’s been,” he said.
Harvey said about two weeks before closing, there would be no more new material coming in “At some point probably in the next three weeks, it’s going to be everything (on) dollar tables. Honestly if I sold everything we had I had a month ago before we started this sale for a dollar apiece. I’d probably have $70,000.”
He said a coffee shop and music venue geared toward Christians is potentially in the works for the retail space after closing, but for now future plans for the antique store are under wraps. Harvey said the shop would remain open until at least April 8. A longtime collector and experienced antique buyer and seller, he said many of his finds come from real estate sales and eBay. But sometimes, things drop in.
“I’ve been buying and selling for almost 40 years, I mainly did flea markets and stuff” Harvey said. “I’ve got some of my best buys with people just walking in. Some lady came in and donated, (she) just asked me if I wanted these items and they were 12 Demutant glasses, they’re little Tiffany sterling silver lace-type holders that were holding Lennox China glasses in them. She donated 12.”
Bargain Bliss by ADK can also be found on eBay, where Harvey has some higher-priced items available.
