A new book covering the last 50 years of Susquehanna County is hot off the presses.
Harold Ely, who helped spearhead ‘Susquehanna County, 1960-2010’ said the book was released last week and will be available for purchase at the Harford Fair this week with purchase available at the 4-H pavilion, Farm Bureau, Grange Building and County Commissioners building.
The 244-page collection of snapshots of various facets of Susquehanna County life brings current a history that was done in 1960 at the behest of a group that had been working on that project for a couple of years.
About nine months ago, Ely had approached the Susquehanna County Commissioners about helping to underwrite such a project, and got a warm reception before hitting a couple of roadblocks.
In the end Ely through People’s National Bank got the financial go-ahead to do the project and his own and is now looking to recoup his and the bank’s investment.
He said he is grateful for everyone who contributed particularly to Roxanne Connelly who helped keep the project going at the printer’s.
Ely said he is proud of what the group accomplished and hopes the county will be, too.
For those not at the Harford Fair, the 4-H will continue to sell the book throughout the remainder of the year.

The book sells for $25, and an additional mailing charge will be added for those who might wish to get a book by mail.
