Marijuana bust in Dimock

More than 300 marijuana plants, some of them as tall as 8 feet, were seized during a raid Friday on the home of a 54-year-old, Dimock township man.

Susquehanna County detectives, assisted by state troopers, arrested John P. Bennett of 2531 Meshoppen Creek Road on charges of illegal drug manufacturing.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Peter Janicelli and is awaiting a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Jeff Hollister scheduled for Sept. 2.
Bennett was released on $10,000 bail, unsecured.
During the raid, which included Susquehanna County authorities, police found four pounds of processed marijuana, along with scales, bowls, bongs and rolling papers.
Because of the number of plants, a dump truck from the state Department of Transportation was used to haul them away, police said.
