Warriors grab Bear Mtn. run

Elk Lake’s boys’ and girls’ varsity cross country teams competed in the 12th annual Bear Mountain River Run at Lock Haven University on Saturday where both teams took first place overall.

On the boys’ side, Elk Lake topped a pool of nine competitors with a 36 point total ahead of Archbishop Curley in second at 54 as Mike Bedell took 1st place overall at 15:45.16 ahead of Archbishop Curley’s Dave Ozarowski at 16:08.61.

The Elk Lake girls’ team topped the five team girls’ standings with 21 points, ahead of Sayre in second at 52 while Maria Trowbridge took first place at 19:34.47.

Rounding out the top 10 for the Elk Lake boys were Luke Jones in fourth at 16:22.84, Sean Carney in ninth at 16:43.82 and Jeff Horvath in 10th at 16:46.49.

On the girls’ side, other top 10 finishes included Elizabeth Trowbridge in second at 19:54.19, Kirsten Hollister in fifth at 20:16.82, Abby Zdancewicz in sixth at 20:21.82, Emily Williams in seventh at 20:28.47 and Lainey Bedell in ninth at 20:50.55.

Also finishing for Elk Lake’s boys were Will Bennett (12th-17:02.44), Bryan Grosvenor (15th-17:26.50), Matt Horvath (31st-18:28.35) and Seth Carney (36th-18:41.42).

Other finishers for the girls were Cassy Salsman (16th-22:12.33) and Kellie Grosvenor (25th-23:09.29).
