Girls’ basketball wrap-up (Dec. 29, 2010)

Montrose

The Montrose Area girls’ basketball team picked up a 54-31 victory over Lackawanna Trail’s Lady Lions on Tuesday evening at Tunnel Hill.

In the first quarter, Montrose jumped ahead going 12-6 over Lackawanna Trail, before the Lady Meteors would outscore the Lions 13-10 in the second to hold a 25-16 lead at the half.

After the break, Montrose continued to lead the way as they outscored the Lions 19-4 in the third, and after Lackawanna Trail’s 11-10 run in the fourth, the Meteors took the win.

Montrose was led by Dallas Ely who scored 23 points while Amelia DiPhillips chipped in seven, as did Katelyn Spellman.

Elk Lake

Elk Lake’s Lady Warriors were handed a 41-36 loss at Northeast Bradford on Wednesday after picking up a 38-34 victory over the Blue Ridge Lady Raiders in Dimock on Tuesday night, 38-34.

On Wednesday, Northeast Bradford paced the Warriors 10-9 in the first quarter, before each team would score four in the second to give the Rangers a 14-13 lead at the half.

After halftime, Northeast Bradford went on a 14-7 run over the Warriors, and despite a 17-13 run for Elk Lake in the fourth, the Rangers took the win.

Elk Lake was led by Meghan Bush, who scored 12 for Elk Lake while Katie Mitchell added eight and Mazie Tyler chipped in seven.

Against Blue Ridge in the first quarter, each team scored eight points, before the Warriors would outscore the Raiders 8-6 in the second to lead 16-14 at halftime.

After the break, the Warriors went on to pace the Raiders 9-4 in the third, and then held on to win despite a 16-13 Raider run in the fourth.

Elk Lake was led by Mitchell and Tyler with 10 points apiece while Kenzi Moon added nine.

Blue Ridge was paced by Kristen Brown, who dropped in 12 points for the Raiders.

Mountain View

Mountain View’s girls’ basketball team picked up a 61-55 victory over Lakeland on the road on Tuesday night.

Mountain View and Lakeland tied things up after the first quarter where each team scored 12 points, before the Eagles would take a lead with a 21-17 run in the second to pace the Chiefs 33-29.

In the second half, both teams scored 15 in the third quarter, before Mountain View would finish off Lakeland 13-11 in the final minutes.

Alex Lynn scored 10 points, had 11 rebounds and 10 assists, Kayla Kazmierski scored 18 points and had 18 rebounds and Megan kress chipped in 11.

Forest City

The Forest City Regional girls’ basketball team handed Susquehanna a 61-28 loss at Forest City on Tuesday night.

In the first, Forest City got off to a 25-7 lead before outscoring the Sabers 13-6 to lead the way 38-13 at the half.

After the half, Forest City paced Susquehanna 12-7 in the third before finishing the Sabers off 11-8 in the fourth.

Forest City was led by Katie Yale with 11 points and Carly Erdmann dropped in 10 to pace the Foresters.

Mashawna Hargett led Susquehanna with 11 points.
