Dance, music show to benefit Emily Donovan dance scholarship

BY PAT FARNELLI

Susquehanna County’s Dairy Princess Olivia Mitchell is planning a fundraiser for a dance scholarship fund in memory of Emily Donovan, who died at the age of four in November 2010, after a lengthy battle with brain cancer.

The benefit, which will feature three local dance companies as well as local music students, was conceived by Mitchell as her senior project.

The Dance and Talent Show will be held on Mar. 19 at the Montrose Area High School auditorium.

Homeschooled and in eleventh grade, Olivia chose this project because Emily loved dance, and the Mitchells are friends with the Donovan family.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 6 p.m.

The Helene Yelverton Dance Studio, Windwood Hill Dance Academy, and Miss Judy’s Art of Dance will all perform recital pieces.

Several music students will also perform solos.
