Keystone team honored for academics

The Keystone College field hockey team has been honored with a 2010 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Collegiate National Academic Team Award.

In addition to the team honor, nine Keystone student-athletes were also recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association for their individual accomplishments.

The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2010-11 academic year, while the National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2010-11 academic year.

Keystone was one of four Colonial States Athletic Conference institutions to earn the team honor. 

The nine individual Keystone student-athletes that were honored for their academic accomplishments include: Kelly Abraham, Fr., Salsbury High School, Allentown; Brackney Brotzman, Jr., Montrose High School; Brackney;  Megan Fry, Fr., Spring-Ford High School, Limerick;  Hope Krolewski, So., Holy Redeemer High School, Bear Creek;  Megan Mancuso, Sr., Parsippany High School, Lake Hiawatha, N.J.;  Lori-Ann Marino, Jr., Wallenpaupack High School, Hawley; Samantha Morgan, Jr., Abington Heights High School, Clarks Summit; Stephanie Mullica, Fr., Timber Creek High School, Sicklerville, N.J.; and Shannon Robinson, Fr., Tunkhannock Area High School, Tunkhannock. 

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association is a non-profit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
