Mountain View’s boys’ varsity volleyball team is returning to the court after a 10-2 campaign last year and a trip to the District II Class AA playoffs.

This year, the Eagles will be under the direction of coach Abby Barrett, who served as an assistant to the boys’ team under Ed Freeman last year.

Barrett was the girls’ varsity coach this past fall, leading the team to an 11-5 overall record in the LIAA and a trip to the District II Class A finals where the team was dispatched by Lackawanna Trail.

The Mountain View boys will be lead by two returning starters in senior Logan Mack and junior Nathan Moyer.

After losing five seniors to graduation last season, the Eagles will look to their returning talent to give them success.

“We want to put the most competitive team possible on the court every night,” Barrett said. “We have some talented returners, and a lot of new and young talent.

“We certainly have some adjusting to do, to fill the shoes of some key starters from last season, but we are looking forward to the season.”

Barrett said that in addition to Moyer and Mack, she will look to returners Brad Owens and Chuck Cross to be tough at the net for the Eagles this season.

The Eagles will have tough competition in Western Wayne in the league this year, as they hope to make a return to the Class AA playoffs.

Mountain View’s boys’ varsity volleyball team is comprised of seniors Mack, Cross and Brian Landis, juniors Moyer, Owens, Michael Lamberson and Austin Chudlinski, and freshman Austin Mack, Seth Reyes, Michael Schevchuck, Brandon Zentmyer, Mark Fontana and Jacob Heller.
