Ballot positions set in contested races

New Milford District Judge candidates Raymond Telnock, Kathy Ragard and Jodi Cordner draw numbers to determine the placement of their names on the primary ballot during the Casting of Lots held last Wednesday. The three candidates will appear on both the Republican and Democratic ballots in May.

The order candidate names will appear on primary ballots was decided on Wednesday (Mar. 16) at the Casting of the Lots held in the county courthouse.

In the GOP commissioner race, Michael Giangrieco (incumbent) will be listed first on the ballot, followed by Alan Hall, Fred Baker and Ricky Oakley.

On the Democratic ticket, MaryAnn Warren will be listed first with Leon Allen in the second ballot position. Both are incumbent commissioners.

Hall, Baker and Allen attended the Casting of the Lots to draw their own ballot slot.

Voters may vote for two candidates in the commissioner race. The highest two vote-getters from each party will appear on the ballot for the general election.

In the race for county auditor on the Republican ticket George Starzec will be in the top slot with Holly Bialy appearing on the number two line. Both currently serve as county auditors.

In the auditor race on the Democratic ballot, Melanie K will be listed in the first ballot slot. Incumbent auditor Susan Jennings will appear in the second ballot line.

Starzec and Jennings appeared at the proceeding to draw their own ballot positions.

Voters may vote for two candidates in the auditor race. The highest two vote-getters from each party will appear on the ballot for the general election.

There are several contested races on the municipal level.

In the Franklin Twp., two-year supervisor race Lee Burch will appear in the first position on the GOP ballot with Helen Vile in the second slot.

On the Republican ballot for the six-year Franklin Twp. supervisor seat, Daniel DePue (incumbent) will appear on the first line and Terry Rosevear will be on the ballot in the second position.

A two-year seat is also available in Franklin with Lee Burch appearing first on the ballot and Helen Vile on the second line of the GOP ballot.

In Harford Twp., Doug Phelps will be listed first on the ballot in the six-year term supervisor’s race, with Lester Thomas in the second slot and Terry VanGorden appearing on the third ballot line. Voters may choose one candidate.

Montrose second ward candidates for borough council, Tony Pickett and Salvatore Vetri choose dominoes during the Casting of Lots on Wednesday (Mar.16) to determine their placement on the Democratic ballot. Others seeking the seat but not at the official casting of lots are: Mary Anne Waddington (incumbent); and Julanne Skinner. Director of Elections Laura Watts and Chief Clerk Sylvia Beamer drew dominoes for those candidates.

Incumbent Mary Anne Waddington will appear on the top Democratic ballot line in the Montrose, second ward council-race. Tony Pickett is in the second ballot slot, followed by Salvatore Vetri on the third line and Julanne Skinner in the fourth ballot position. Two, four-year seats second ward seats are available in the second ward. Voters may choose two candidates.

On the Democratic ballot in Rush for the six-year supervisor seat, Pete Brozonis will appear first on the ballot with Charles Pierson (incumbent) appearing in the second slot.

Paul Barnes will appear in the number one ballot position with John Hendricks in the second slot for a two-year seat on Susquehanna Depot’s council on the Democratic ballot.

Five Democratic Party candidates are seeking primary election to four, four-year seats available on Susquehanna’s council.

The order names will appear on the ballot is: Deborah Zayas, Diana Williams, Roy Williams, David Scales Sr., and Allen Wolf.

The Blue Ridge Region 3 School Director seat is also contested on Republican primary ballot. Cindy Gaughan will square off against Joel Whitehead for the seat that represents both Great Bend and Jackson townships.

Montrose Area Region 2 School Director race is also contested. Three candidates are seeking two available seats. The region covers Bridgewater, Franklin and  Liberty townships. On the GOP ballot Doug Wilcox will be listed on the top line followed by John Delaney and Chris Caterson.

Wilcox and Delaney also appear on Democratic ballot in the race. Wilcox will also appear on the first line of the Democratic ballot with Delaney on the second.

Mountain View Region 1A School Director seat is also contested. Christine Plonski Sezer will appear on the first ballot line with Gina Yarrish on the second on both the GOP and Democratic ballots. Region 1A represents Gibson Twp.

Mountain View’s Region 2A is also contested on both party ballots. Thomas Stoddard will listed on the top line with Jay Wescott appearing on the second. Region 2A covers Lenox Twp.
