Mountain View’s boys’ baseball team is back on the diamond after a successful 2010 campaign where the Eagles went 12-2 in Lackawanna League Division III play.

Coach Ryan McAndrew’s Eagles return several starters including seniors Julian Williams, Greg Adams, Dustin Compton, Scott Edwards and Karch Frantz.

The Eagles also bring back junior Joel Madas and sophomore Dylan Thomas.

Despite the solid group coming back, McAndrew said the Eagles lost their number one pitcher to graduation and are looking to Williams to take over that top spot.

“I think we’ve got the potential to compete for a league title,” McAndrew said. “As long as some of the guys get comfortable with new spots.”

He said that some of the players will have different spots hitting in the order, and will have to adjust to the changes.

In getting to the league championship, Mountain View will have to get past the likes of Lackawanna Trial, Montrose and Elk Lake.

McAndrew said he will look to first-team Lackawanna League all-stars Williams, Madas and Edwards to help him out, while he thinks Frantz and Thomas will both be solid this season.

Mountain View’s boys’ baseball team is comprised of seniors Williams, Adams, Compton, Edwards, Frantz, Chris Herman and Thor Banks, juniors Madas, and Mike Wakalowski, sophomores Thomas, BJ Beeman, Jimmy O’Brien, Nate Goodenough, Tyler Walsh, Owen Flannery and Ricky Ord, and freshmen Dallas Pompey, Noah Pepper, Colby Thomas, George Shwartz, Matt Heller, Andy Adams, Brandon Hawm and Zach Feduchak.
