An early Wednesday morning fire at a Cabot Oil & Gas property in Susquehanna County was intentionally set, state police fire marshals have ruled.

The fire happened after midnight at a Cabot Oil and Gas storage facility on Phillips Road in Springville Township.

The structure was an old barn, that had apparently been used to for storage of trucks and tractors but none of them were inside at the time of the fire.

The barn appeared to be a total loss, Cabot spokesman George Stark said.

The fire caused $40,000 worth of damage, destroying a trailer and portable toilet inside. The site was used strictly for storage and not drilling, Stark said.

Springville and United Fire Company of Montrose responded to the scene shortly after midnight with backup from Elk Lake, Lake Carey and Rush Twp. fire companies
