Warrior track shuts out Carbondale

Elk Lake’s boys’ and girls’ track and field teams took a pair of wins over Carbondale at home on Thursday evening.

The Warrior boys defeated Carbondale 100-49 while the Warrior girls took a 115.5-29.5 victory over the Chargers.

On the boys’ side Brad Moore took wins in the 100, 200, 400 and the 400 relay for the Warriors while Mike Bedell had wins in the 800, setting a school record at 1:56.82, the 1600 and as a part of the 1600 and 3200 relays and Joe Woolcock took wins in the javelin, long jump, triple jump and as a part of the 400 relay team.

For the girls, Elk Lake was led by Cindy Good with wins in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and high jump while Maria Trowbridge had wins in the 1600 and 3200 and as a part of the 1600 relay and 3200 relay teams. Kirsten Holliser won the 100 and 200 and took first as a part of the 400 relay and 1600 relay teams.

First place finishes on the boys’ side came from the 3200 relay team of Bedell, Will Bennett, Bryan Grosvenor and Luke Jones in 8:41, Brad Moore in the 100 at 11.02, the 200 at 23.52 and the 400 at 54.2, Bedell in the 1600 at 4:47 and the 800 at 1:56.82 (school record), the 400 relay team of Moore, Woolcock, Dylan Simmons and Than Thanormthin in 48.3, Luke Jones in the 3200 at 10:37, the 1600 relay team of Bedell, Bennett, Grosvenor and Jason Vermeulen in 3:40, Mark Bush in the shot put at 45-4.75, Bob Benscoter in the discus at 114-7.5, Woolcock in the javelin at 139-8, long jump at 18-8 and triple jump at 37-8, and Jeremy Schwartzstrauber in the high jump at 5-6.

Seconds came from Jones (1600), Ben Stang (300 hurdles), Bennett (800), Bush (discus), and Schwartzstrauber (pole vault).

Thirds were recorded by B. Stang (100 hurdles), Thanormthin (100 and 200), Trevor Gowin (300 hurdles), Benscoter (shot put), Simmons (javelin), Vermeulen (long jump and high jump), Isaiah Ofalt (triple jump) and Aaron Stang (pole vault).

On the girls’ side, firsts came from Cindy Good in the 100 hurdles at 17.5, 300 hurdles at 53.5 and high jump at 4-7, the 3200 relay team of Elizabeth Trowbridge, Maria Trowbridge, Cassie VanEtten and Abby Zdancewicz in 10:44, Kirsten Hollister in the 100 at 12.9 and 200 at 27.2, M. Trowbridge in the 1600 at 5:41 and 3200 at 12:19, VanEtten in the 400 at 1:03.4, the 400 relay team of Kelsey Hermick, Carolyn Teetsel, Hollister and VanEtten in 56.0, E. Trowbridge in the 800 at 2:39, the 1600 relay team of Hermick, Hollister, M. Trowbridge, C. VanEtten in 4:25, Teetsel in the shot put at 30-0.75, Megan Bush in the discus at 80-8.5, Samantha Milnes in the triple jump at 25-9 and Carly Bennett in the pole vault at 6-0.

Seconds came from Bennett (100 and 300 hurdles), Emily Williams (1600), Hermick (400), Lainey Bedell (800), E. Trowbridge (3200), Bush (shot put), Teetsel (discus) and Chelsea Karabin (javelin).

Thirds were recorded by L. Bedell (1600), Kellie Grosvenor (400), Cassie Salsman (300 hurdles), Zdancewicz (800), Williams (3200), Elizabeth Benscoter (shot put), Milnes (long jump) and Rachel Pompey (triple).

Blue Ridge

The Blue Ridge boys’ track and field team took a 114-36 win over Lackawanna Trial on Thursday while the girls’ team was handed a 72-52 loss from the Lions.

Blue Ridge’s boys’ team was led by a pair of victories each from Zach Kruger in the 110 and 300 hurdles, Dan Kempa in the javelin and high jump and Eric Onyon in the discus and shot put.

First place finishes on the boys’ side came from Zach Kruger in the 110 hurdles at 15.1 and 300 hurdles at 43.3, the 3200 relay team of Jake Hinkley, Ethan Mansfield, Greg Stonier and Mike Robbs in 9:07, Hinkley in the 1600 at 4:55 and 3200 at 10:42, the 400 relay team of James, Sean Stanley, Kruger and Dan Kempa in 45.2, Mansfield in the 800 at 2:13, Jacob James in the 200 at 24.5, the 1600 relay team of James, Eric Giangrieco, Kempa and Kruger in 3:49, Eric Onyon in shot put at 46-11.5 and discus at 145-0, Kempa in javelin at 153-3 and high jump at 5-6, Craig Monks in long jump at 18-7.25 and Stanley in triple jump at 38-11.

Seconds were recorded by James (100), Giangrieco (200 and 400), Chris Carlsen (300 hurdles triple jump and long jump), Greg Piechochi (shot put) and Zach Edwards (pole vault).

Thirds came from Chris Monks (100), Robbs (1600 and 3200), Billy Rupakus (400 and triple jump), Stonier (800), D. Miller (shot put), Piechochi (discus), Stanley (long jump) and Levi Schmidt (pole vault).

First place finishes on the girls’ side came from the 400 relay team of Chaffe, Hinkley, Hall and Ragard at 53.6, Allison Hall in the 800 at 2:30.8, the 1600 relay team of Ragard, Hinkley, Chaffee, and Hall in 4:43.7, Holly Holbrook in discus at 78-11 and Katie Drake in pole vault at 9-0.

Seconds were recorded by L. Ellis (100 and 300 hurdles), Kailey Ragard (100 and 200), Holbrook (shot put and javelin) and K Whitney (long jump).

Thirds came from Holbrook (100 hurdles), Chaffee (100), Katie Cramer (1600), Megan Hinkley (200) and Sarah Price (shot put and discus).

Mountain View

Mountain View’s boys’ and girls’ teams took a pair of losses from Mid Valley on Thursday afternoon.

The Eagle boys faced a 114-23 loss from the Cougars while the lady Eagles faced an 84-55 loss.

Mountain View’s girls were led by wins from Olivia Zick in the shot put, discus and javelin. Liam Maloney had the boys’ only first place winning the triple jump.

First place finishes on the girls’ side came from Stephanie Virbitsky in the 1600 at 6:38, the 400 relay team at 57.2, Jessica Bostjancich in the 200 at 30.7 and Olivia Zick in the shot put at 26-2.5, discus at 87-9 and javelin at 83-4.

Seconds came from P. Albritton (300 hurdles), Virbitsky (800), D. Congdon (long jump) and B. Reyes (high jump).

Thirds were recorded by P. Albritton (100), Diane Congdon (400), B. Reyes (200) and A. Suchnick (long jump and triple jump).

First place finishes on the boys’ side came from Liam Maloney in the triple jump at 36-3.25.

Seconds came from Tony Gaynor (100 and 200).

Thirds were recorded by J. Marshalek (100 hurdles), C. Davis (400), J. Marshalek (300 hurdles), Seth Decker (shot put and discus) and Ridge Bernosky (long jump).
