Lady Meteors grab double-header wins

Montrose Area’s softball team picked up a pair of wins over Western Wayne at home on Thursday in a double-header.

In the first game, the Meteors defeated the Wildcats 9-4, as they scored three runs in each of the first and second innings and a pair of runs in the third to lead 8-4 going into the fourth.

Montrose would tack on another run in the fourth to take the victory as Dallas Ely went four-for-four and Katie Groover homered and drove in three runs for the winners. Sam Dixon had two hits, including a triple while Andrea Hinds took the pitching win striking out four giving up five hits.

In the nightcap, Hinds scattered four hits and struck out seven while adding a double and three RBIs as Montrose took the 3-2 win.

Ely went two-for-three with a pair of singles and scored two runs while Sara Krupinski had a hit and a run scored.

Elk Lake

The Elk Lake softball team topped Mountain View on the road on Wednesday with a 5-1 victory over the Eagles.

Elk Lake and Mountain View went scoreless through two innings before the Warriors got on the board with a run in the top of the third.

Both team then went scoreless again until the top of the seventh, when Elk Lake picked up four runs, and despite a run by the Eagles in the bottom of the seventh, the Warriors grabbed the win.

Darling threw a one hitter with 10 strikeouts while Kenzi Moon had two hits and drove in a run for the Warriors.

Alix Taylor struck out 13 for Mountain View while also picking up the Eagles’ only hit of the game.

Forest City

Forest City’s softball team grabbed a win at home against Susquehanna on Thursday afternoon, 8-4.

The Foresters fell behind early in the game as Susquehanna led them 3-0 going into the bottom of the second. However, a six-run second inning for the Foresters put them ahead, before they would add runs in the third and sixth to take the win.

Jade Kull and Katie Yale each had two RBIs and Briana Pavalone had two hits, including a double and scored twice to lead the winners.

Yale took the pitching win giving up eight hits, four earned runs and five walks while striking out five.

Blue Ridge

The Blue Ridge Raider softball team handed Lackawanna Trail a 9-0 shutout at home on Thursday afternoon.

The Raiders got ahead with a run in each of the first two innings, before tacking on seven insurance runs in a big sixth inning.

Gabby Wolfe pitched a three-hitter and posted seven strikeouts in the win. Wolfe also had two hits, including a triple and drove in two runs.

Jackie Furch added a hit and an RBI while scoring a pair of runs and Courtney Ucci was one-for-four with a pair of RBIs.
