Hunter wounded in accident

BY ROBERT L. BAKER

A 28-year-old turkey hunter from Forest City is in the hospital after an accident on May 3 in Clifford Township.

Pennsylvania Game Commission spokesman Tim Conway said Monday that Travis O’Brien of Forest City was out hunting with a friend along SR 2027 (Lyon Street) in Clifford Township around 8:20 a.m. when his 12-gauge shotgun accidentally discharged.

O’Brien sustained wounds to his abdomen and left hand, and was treated at the scene. He was then transported to Marian Community Hospital in Carbondale, later moved to Community Medical Center in Scranton and finally to Lehigh Valley Medical Center, where he remains in guarded condition, Conway said.

Conway added that no foul play is suspected.
