Lady Sabers downed by Trail

Susquehanna’s girls’ softball team faced an 11-1 loss at home on Thursday from Lackawanna Trail’s Lions.

The Lions scored eight runs in the third inning to take the lead before adding one in the fourth and a pair in the sixth, as Susquehanna notching its only run in the fourth.

Danielle Barnes tripled for Susquehanna while Conroy added a hit and an RBI for the Sabers.

Micaela Rhone was the losing pitcher giving up five hits, four earned runs and struck out one in two and two-thirds innings.

Mountain View

The Mountain View softball team grabbed a 6-2 win at home over Western Wayne on Thursday and a 2-0 shutout win over Montrose on the road on Tuesday evening.

On Thursday, Alix Taylor and Jenny Molenko each had two hits and two RBIs to lead the winners. Taylor struck out 15 batters for the Eagles in seven innings on the mound while giving up four hits and no earned runs.

Caitlyn Tague added a double for the Eagles while Emily Ressequie had a hit and an RBI.

At Montrose, Taylor outdueled Montrose’s Andrea Hinds from the pitching circle to take the victory. Taylor faced one over the minimum and fired a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts and no walks.

Mountain View’s Andrea Beeman provided some punch on offense with two hits, including a triple, a run scored and an RBI.

Hinds had 13 strikeouts, two walks and allowed one earned run for the Meteors.

Brooke Malloy had Montrose’s only hit, with a single.

Blue Ridge

The Blue Ridge softball team handed Western Wayne a 13-4 loss on the road on Friday and Forest City a five-inning 13-0 shutout loss at home on Thursday evening.

On Friday, Courtney Ucci had four hits, including a double and a triple and Carissa Hawk drove in three runs as Blue Ridge rolled.

Kaitlin Krug had three hits and two RBIs for the Lady Raiders.

Ucci was the winning pitcher, giving up seven hits, four earned runs and no walks while striking out three in seven innings in the circle.

Against Forest City, the Raiders scored nine runs in the first inning, three in the second and one in the fifth to cap off a successful outing against the Foresters.

Jackie Furch tossed a no-hitter and Gabby Wolfe had four hits and four RBIs to lead the Raiders. Ucci added three hits to a 17-hit assault.

For Forest City, Katie Yale took the pitching loss giving up 17 hits, eight earned runs and four walks while striking out none over five innings.

Elk Lake

Elk Lake’s softball team handed the Montrose girls an 8-0 loss in a game played at Montrose on Thursday evening.

The Warriors scored three runs in each of the first and second innings and tacked on a pair of runs in the fifth as they shut out the Meteors.

Gabby Baltzley singled twice and tripled, Bri Hollenbeck had a double and two singles and Brooke Darling tossed a one-hitter, striking out 12 batters.

Dallas Ely had the lone hit for Montrose with a single, while Andrea Hinds took the pitching loss giving up 14 hits, eight earned runs and six walks while striking out 10 over seven innings.

Forest City

The Forest City softball team handed a Mountain View a 2-0 shutout at home on Friday afternoon.

Both teams battled to a scoreless tie until the bottom of the sixth inning where back-to-back RBI singles from Jade Kull and Briana Pavalone lifted the Foresters to a Division III victory.

Katie Yale tossed a three-hit shutout for Forest City while striking out four in seven innings.

Alix Taylor struk out 10 batters for Mountain View while giving up only two hits and no earned runs in six innings in the circle.
