Warriors take pair of wins

Elk Lake’s baseball team took a 13-0 victory over Susquehanna on the road Sunday and a 5-4 win on Saturday afternoon over Mountain View’s Eagles.

Against Susquehanna, Adam Phillips went three-for-three with two RBIs and three runs for the Warriors, who have won seven of their last nine games.

Jeff Horvath added two hits and three RBIs and Holden Lunger and Zach Canfield in drove in a pair of runs.

Damian Dailey was the winning pitcher giving up no hits, no runs and no walks while striking out six in three innings on the mound.

For Susquehanna, Nick Marco doubled as Tom Maby took the pitching loss giving up 14 hits, 13 earned runs and four walks with five strikeouts in four and a third innings on the mound.

On Saturday, with the bases loaded and none out, Elk Lake’s Jeff Horvath laced the second pitch he saw to right center to score the Warriors’ winning runs, lifting them to a 5-4 victory over Mountain View.

Nick Dudock drew a walk, Adam Phillips singled and Holden Lunger was intentionally walked to set up Horvath on Elk Lake’s Senior Day.

Horvath finished with two hits and four RBIs and Phillips went four-for-four with one RBI.

Lunger was the winning pitcher giving up one hit and two walks with three strikeouts in two and two-thirds innings on the mound.

For Mountain View, Jim O’Brien had two hits, including a triple and scored a run while Dylan Thomas was the losing pitcher giving up two hits, two earned runs and two walks while striking out two in a third of an inning.

Mountain View

Mountain View’s Eagles took a 9-2 victory over Forest City at home on Sunday.

Eagle Mike Wakalowski went three-for-three and Zach Feduchak doubled twice and drove in two runs won a game that was suspended Wednesday, forcing the Eagles to play without seven players who started the game before attending their senior class trip.

Colby Thomas pitched five innings of four-hit relief for the win. Matt Hartman singled and drove in a run for the Foresters.

Thomas also knocked a double for the Eagles.

Brian Nebzydoski took the pitching loss for the Foresters giving up one earned run and a walk while striking out one in one inning on the mound.

Montrose

The Montrose baseball team handled Forest City on Sunday, defeating the Foresters 17-4 in a Lackawanna League contest and also handed Blue Ridge a 9-3 loss.

At Forest City, C.J. Hartman, Dan Simonds, Make Rapisardi, Mike Hackett and Dale Harder all had two hits and Casey O’reilly homered for the Meteors.

The Meteors scored two runs in the first, six in the second, two in the third and seven in the fourth to rack up 17 runs, while the Foresters scored a pair in the third and one in each of the fourth and fifth innings.

Brian Nebzydoski went three-for-three for Forest City with an RBI. He also took the pitching loss giving up seven hits, six earned runs and six walks while striking out three in two and a third innings.

Facing Blue Ridge, the Rapisardi had a homer and drove in two runs and Simonds had two hits and two RBIs.

Rapisardi, Jared Winn and Jimmy Churco combined on the mound to hold Blue Ridge to just four hits.

Jacob Roberts took the pitching loss for Blue Ridge, giving up four hits, seven earned runs and four walks while striking out one in three innings. He also knocked a double for the Raiders, as did Dylan Pruitt.
