Susquehanna Elementary Awards Assembly was held on June 11 and recognized students from grade one to grade six who have excelled in numerous academic fields as well as other areas of school activities.
For Reading Achievement there were 152 students recognized, with 85 students receiving a Reading Recognition award. For honors and high honors in all areas there were 55 students receiving certificates. The students were called by name, asked to stand and be recognized. Their certificates were handed out by their home room teachers.
Nine students were announced as being awarded the President’s Education Awards. Students who regularly completed their homework were given awards as well as those who attained the Accelerated Reader and Math levels.
Susquehanna Elementary Principal Robert Keyes is shown with Evan Cantone who received the Susquehanna County Elementary Principal's 2011Award. This award is given to one county sixth grader each year who has the highest academic standing at his/her school as well as other accomplishments. Evan also received a gift from the principal.
Keyes, assisted by teachers in specific area handed out the art awards, band awards and the 2010 Harford Fair winners.
Evan Cantone was introduced as the SCES student selected this year by the Susquehanna County Principal’s Association to receive their award. Evan also received a gift from Principal Keyes. Earlier Evan had accompanied Keyes to a luncheon with students and principals from the other five county elementary schools where his selection was announced.
Principal Keyes congratulated all students who received academic awards as well as all the Elementary students who worked hard during the 2010/11 school year.
