Child rapist sentenced

MICHAEL WALTER

BY STACI WILSON

The mother of a girl who was repeatedly raped by an Apolacon Twp. man spoke to the court before he was sentenced to serve a minimum of 13 years in prison for his crimes.

Michael Ray Walter, 37, was sentenced to serve 10 years for the rape of a child and also a consecutive three years for involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 13.

The charges came from two separate cases involving two victims.

The mother of one victim told the court the abuse against her daughter began when the child was only five years old and went on for about four years.

“I wanted to kill you with my bare hands,” she said directly addressing Walter. “You murdered her childhood and innocence. What right do you have to live?”

President Judge Kenneth Seamans said Walter’s actions were “repulsive.”

“And to do it on a daily, weekly, monthly basis for a umber of years – I don’t know how anybody could be so callous,” said the judge.
