Burmans grand marshals for Home Town Days

BY HELEN B. FOSTER, Correspondent

Susquehanna's Home Town Days Grand Marshals, David and Dianne Burman are shown with Jodi Cordner during the parade on Friday evening, July 8.

David and Diane Burman were selected Grand Marshalls for Susquehanna’s Home Town Days parade that took place on Friday evening, July 8, despite  the threat of heavy rain.

Local business owner Dawn Roth was also recognized by the Susquehanna Community Development Association as a Grand marshal but chose to walk in the parade.

Just as the last unit reached the Fire Hall, the light mist that started falling turned into rain. This did not deter people from staying to hear the McNamara sisters-, Maureen and Ann- perform and for the presenting of trophies.

As usual the local organizations, school and church, provided a variety of good food along with Barnes-Kasson Hospital’s strawberry shortcake, and the excellent pizza made by the ladies of the local fire company.

Parade winners were: floats, Harford Fire Company and Stone Bridge Lions Club; walking unit trophy went to Susquehanna Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary; band trophy was awarded the Bag Pipe Band from Binghamton, N.Y.; Pack 81 Cub Scouts received the Service Organization trophy.

Honorary trophies were awarded to Legion Riders; Lenoxville Band; Red Hat Ladies; Word of Life Church, Zumba group.

Fire truck trophies went to: Longest Distance, Five Mile Point; Oldest Engine, Deposit, N.Y.; Best Appearing, Harford Fire Company; Best Ambulance, Thompson; Best Brush Truck, Hallstead. The Judges Trophy went to New Milford.
