The FMS Senior Legion baseball team brought home the District 15 crown on Saturday, taking a pair of victories over Hawley on Wallenpaupack on Saturday.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Nick Miller hit a solo homerun to straight away center field to start off FMS scoring.

Steve Miller picked up the mound victory, pitching six innings giving one earned run.  Mason Mecke came in to close the game, helping FMS take the 7-3 victory.

In the nightcap, the game remained tied at zero after seven innings and went into extra innings.

In the top of the ninth inning, Mecke laid down a suicide squeeze to score Nick Miller from third base for the game’s only run.

Dylan Thomas pitched all nine innings for FMS to earn the shutout victory and the District 15 championship.

FMS will now be heading to the regional tournament, facing off against Susquehanna Valley on Saturday, July 16, at 1:15 p.m. at Central Columbia High School.

FMS swept Montrose last week in the first round of the District 15 playoffs in a best of three set, 2-0.

Game one on Tuesday was an 8-6 win off a three-run homer from Nick Miller in the top of the sixth, while game two on Wednesday was a nine inning thriller that had a 7-3 final.

Tanner Holmes pitched all nine innings and hit sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at one apiece.

In the top of the ninth, Mason Mecke hit a bases loaded, bases clearing double to put FMS ahead for good.

FMS finished the regular season at 9-3, losing only to Hawley. The team’s current record stands at 13-3.
