Man killed in tank truck crash

A 57-year-old Brackney man was killed Friday evening in a 2-vehicle crash.

State police at Gibson said a commercial truck driven by James Robert Hoffpauir, 50, ofMontgomery,Texas, overturned onto a Subaru Legacy at the intersection ofLaurel Lake Roadand Route 29 at about6:50 p.m.

The driver of the Subaru, John JonesIII, was killed.

Both an unnamed 17-year-old female passenger of Jones’ car, as well as Hoffpauir, were moderately injured, state police said.

The 1998 Mack CH6 truck is owned by Casa Grande, Ariz.-based Southeast Directional Drilling LLC.

According to the company’s website, Southeast has more than 100 years of combined field experience in pipelining and directional drilling and works for a variety of contractors and gas companies.

In a statement, the company said it was conducting its own investigation and its “deepest sympathy and prayers go out to this family and all who were involved in the accident.”
