Republican Women’s picnic well attended

Susquehanna County’s “Mr. and Mrs. Republican,” Dick and Eloise Masters, attended the Susquehanna County Council of Republican Women’s annual picnic held on July 14, at the Green Gables inNew Milford.

Dick, a former county chairman, and Eloise, an active members of SCCRW for many years, never fail to attend any Republican event as their health allows.

Acting President Mary Evans was in charge of the program and introduced the elected officials, candidates and special guests.This number included Past State President Crol Masters (1992); Rep. Sandra Major; Commissioner Michael Giangrieco; District Attorney Jason Legg; Public Defender Linda LaBarbara; District Magistrate Jeff Hollister; Prothonotary Susan Eddleston; Sheriff Lance Benedict; Auditors Holly Bialy and Gladys Bennett; District Magistrate candidate Jodi Cordner; State Committee Dianne Burman; and Ryan Stalker. Other special guests included former County Commissioner Lee Smith, as well as visitors fromWyomingCounty, Joe Peters, Russ and Pat Gunton.

Evans introduced Heather Seamans who led the pledge to the flag and Carol Masters gave the invocation prior to dinner.

Former Counry Chairman Donna Cosmello read a note of regret from County Chairman John Kameen. Kameen expressed his regrets at not being able to attend the picnic and thanked everyone for being such a “powerhouse” for the Republican party.

Sarah Fahringer of Montrose was introduced as the SCCRW’s scholarship winner. The daughter of Becky and James Fahringer, she read the essay selected as the wining entry for the $1,000 scholarship awarded each year to one graduate from the six county school districts. Fahringer encouraged county residents to stay informed and vote Republican. She also urged all citizens to respect all our leaders.

Other SCCRW officers, besides President Mary are Deb Slater as First Vice-President; Sue Seamans as Second Vice-President; Cathy Benedict as secretary and Debbie Kissell holds the office of treasurer.
