A Nicholson-area man stands accused of sexually assaulting a four-year-old child in Harford Twp. over eight years ago.

James Michael Jerauld,1751 Dimock-to-Nicholson Rd., faces two felony sexual assault counts, as well as two felony involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child counts stemming from incidents that occurred in 2002-03.

Jerauld was also charged with corruption of minors.

According to the police affidavit, the victim reported Jerauld had engaged in sex acts with her on at least two separate occasions.

The girl, now 13, was interviewed at the Lackawanna County Children’sAdvocacyCenter. The interview was monitored by police through a video feed.

Police also interviewed Jerauld. He denied any inappropriate contact and agreed to take a polygraph.

According to the affidavit, the polygraph administered July 27 at the Gibson police barracks showed indicators the man was being deceptive in his answers.

Police said that once confronted with that information Jerauld admitted to having sexual contact with the child on one occasion.

Pennsylvania State Trooper Mark Keyes filed the charges against Jerauld in Clifford District Court on July 29.

He waived his Aug. 2 preliminary hearing. Jerauld is free on $25,000 unsecured bail.
