Changes made in 911 shifts

BY STACI WILSON

Chronic staff shortages in the county 911 center should soon be alleviated with newly created positions in the department.

At the Aug. 10 salary board meeting, two part-time dispatcher positions were eliminated in 911, effective immediately.

The board then opted to create three, new, full-time dispatcher positions.

The dispatchers in those three positions will work rotating schedules.

Current schedules and shifts for other dispatcher positions are not being changed and are not affected by the new positions.

The salary board is comprised of the county treasurer and the three commissioners. Salary board meetings are held immediately following commissioner meetings on an as-needed basis.
