Meteor tennis hitting the courts

BY KEVIN WOODRUFF

The Montrose Area girls’ tennis team is returning to the courts this season after finishing up 8-4 in Lackawanna League Division II.

Coach Jim Hinds said that the Meteors are a young team, but have a lot going for them.

“We have a lot of potential as we have some excellent athletes,” Hinds said. “Our goals are to improve with every match and play every point like it is match point.”

Returning to the roster for the Meteors this season are senior Gracee Bulger, juniors Megan Hinds, Ceara Hartman and Cierra Cook.

The Meteors lost Courtney Hinds, Kayla Triebel, Kristy Stankiewicz and Andrea Hinds to graduation after last season.

Some players to watch on the Meteor squad this season include Bulger, Hinds, Hartman, Alex Grow, Jen Reed, Anna Ruseski and Holly Andre.

Hinds said those players have been working hard on improving their game and on conditioning throughout the summer.
