Commissioner Leon Allen reported progress was being made in the renovation of the county’s88 Chenango St., Montrose property.

The commissioners voted, at the Aug. 10 meeting, to sign a $4,677 contract with T.N. Pyeron Service to cover the installation of the fire alarm service at the building. This is an extension of the services already provided to the county by the company.

Allen said the building’s interior is starting to take shape and the new roof almost complete.

Bids for the demolition and renovation work were awarded earlier this summer.

Chief Clerk Sylvia Beamer said the work on the property is supposed to be completed six months date the bid was awarded.

No announcement has been made by the commissioners regarding what department(s) will be relocated into that site.

The commissioners approved several Children & Youth service agreements received from the state for services contracted July 1, 2010-June 30, 2011.

Edna Paskoff,ForestLake, questioned the past dates listed for the agreements.

Beamer explained the commissioners approve the agreements once they are received from the state. The agreements are sent to the county from the state.

The commissioners also signed an July 1, 2011-June 30, 2012 agreement between Children & Youth and Avanco International Inc.,McLean,Va., for access to the Child Accounting and Profile System; help desk support; data security; and back up and recovery, if needed.

Total cost for the service is $20,900; the county’s portion is $3,762.

The commissioners signed an additional agreement with Avanco which provides for necessary training; project assessments; design and development; and other items not covered by the help desk.

Various rates are charged on an hourly, as-needed basis for the different services offered. The county is responsible to cover about 16 percent of the charges for services.

Darlene Sheridan, of Susquehanna, was hired by Register/Recorder Mary Evans as a part-time clerk in the office, effective Aug. 15.

Commissioner MaryAnn Warren was not present at the meeting. According to the agenda,Warrenwas attending the National Association of Conservation Districts Conference.
