Meteor golfers take first loss of season

The Montrose Area golf team took a 7-2 win overCarbondaleon Thursday after it faced its first loss of the season on Tuesday as Wallenpaupack defeated the Meteors, 8-1, in a Lackawanna Northern Division match.

Against Carbondale in individual play, Chris Cerminaro (C) split with Jordan Smith; Mike Quinn (C) over Codi Benedict, 4 and 2; Lance Nealy (M) over Joey Cassaro, 2 and 1; Mason Legg (M) over Eric Wallis, 4 and 2; Casey O’Reilly (M) over Brian Boyle, 3 and 1; Cameron Dean (M) over Dominique Liuzzo, 5 and 3.

In better-ball, Cerminaro-Quinn (C) split with Smith-Benedict; Nealy-Legg (M) over Cassaro-Wallis, 3 and 2; O’Reilly-Dean (M) over Boyle-Liuzzo, 3 and 2.

Elk Lake’s golf team faced an 8-1 loss to Western Wayne on Thursday after it split a match with Blue Ridge at Rock Creek Golf Course on Tuesday, 4.5-4.5.

Against Western Wayne in individual play, Kevin Karabin (WW) over Ricky Guiton, 4 and 2; Matt Howe (WW) over Jeremy Swartzdrauber, 2 and 1; Bob Dyer (WW) over Marshall McCarty, 4 and 3; Evan Munley (WW) over Zack Canfield, 3 and 2; Adam Phillips (EL) over Mike Valvano, 1 up; Matt Roberts (WW) over Matt Domaswicz, 4 and 3.

Mountain View’s golf team faced an 8-1 loss from Lackawanna Trail at Rock Creek on Thursday after it picked up a win over Blue Ridge in a match played at Rock Creek on Tuesday, 5-4.
