Susquehanna BPW hosts District 8 conference

The Nellie Jane DeWitt Business and Professional Women’s Club, Susquehanna was the host club for District Eight’s Fall Conference on Saturday, October 1.

Held at the Beacon in Union Dale, members from seven of District Eight’s nine clubs wihch includes: Berwick,Carbondale, Montrose,  Nellie Jane Dewitt, Peckville,Scranton, Stroudsburg, Tunkhannock andWayneCountywere welcomed by NJD President Mary Muchala.

Berwick was not represented at the conference. District Eight is the largest district in the state in the number of clubs.

In the absence of director Susan Gesford, assistant director Susan Vladika presided over the conference. The members wished Gesford well in her recovery from a recent illness.

NJD members assisting their president were: past district directors Alice Deutsch and  Lori Hubal; Sarah Holmes, Linda Bedford, Treasurer Tina Roe  and Ethel Ambagais. Also representingSusquehannaCountywere: NJD vice president Colleen Wilkes, Priscella Heller, Betty Koscelnak, guest Eleanor Dohnalek and Montrose President Joyce Rudzianski.

Following the presentation of awards that included an award to NJD for attendance, BPW/PA vice president Aleta Richmond addressed the gathering bringing greetings from state president Bobbi Dobler.
