Susquehanna Borough Council President Roberta  Reddon brought to council’s attention at the Jan. 10 meeting  the need to review the 2012 budget that was passed by the former council on Dec. 20.

Reddon said the new council needed to review the budget, but not necessarily take any action. Some council members are concerned over the present budget being short $11,800.

Mayor Michael Matis informed council there is still some unfinished business pertaining to hiring police officers.

An executive session for personnel was on the agenda for this meeting but  people attending were not informed if any action would be taken following the executive session.

Matis reported a cell phone problem is under control with a $30 saving per month.

At the December meeting  Matis advised council police officers would be attending a narcotics training session held in Honesdale.  He also reported to council on the number of winter snow citations issued by police.

Council voted unanimously to name the Binghamton Press/Sun Bulletin as the borough’s official paper for advertising.  Secretary Diann Robbins had requested advertising bids from several papers with the Binghamton paper being the lowest bid.

The council decided to once again table appointing a solicitor until other local law firms are contacted.

Codes Officer Mary Weaver asked questions on her course of action for legal questions until such time as a solicitor is named.

Attorney Myron Dewitt is the borough’s solicitor at this time as he has not been replaced or reappointed.

Steve Glover was re-appointed by council to a five-year term on the Tri-Boro Municipal Authority board of directors. During a discussion with Glover, council was told if a new plant is needed the cost would be between $3 and $4 million.
