FAA: Bag dropped 310-feet from home

BY STACI WILSON

The Federal Aviation Administration has wrapped up its investigation of a bag of seismic equipment dropped from a helicopter Jan. 29 that ended up on the patio of a Jackson Twp. home.

Jim Peters, spokesman for the FAA, Eastern Region, said the helicopter operator provided information that has the equipment bag placed 310-feet from the house.

“How it happened to be on the patio of the home is open to question,” Peters said.

Homeowner Kathy Kaminsky reported last week that she had seen the helicopter hovering over her house right before her visiting granddaughter spotted the bright orange bag of seismic equipment on the back patio.

Attempts to reach Kaminsky Monday afternoon were not successful.
