EndlessMountainOutfitters will be opening its doors at a new location in Laceyville for 2012, after September flooding damaged its location in Sugar Run.

Owner David Buck said on Thursday the store will be housed alongMain Streetin Laceyville for this year while he continues to clean up the store’s original location along Route 187.

“The storage area we had been using never quite dried out after the flood,” Buck said. “So I decided to move to a new location.”

Although the situation may only be temporary, Buck is excited about what the storefront in Laceyville offers.

“There is a lot of floor space and high ceilings,” Buck said. “So I can fit a lot of boats in there and have them all stood up.”

Buck estimated that there are 65 kayaks at the storefront right now, and will likely be more to come since Buck ordered in 110 to sell this year.

The new Endless Mountain Outfitters storefront is located in the old Bluhm’s Store along Main Street in Laceyville.

The store in Laceyville is set to open its doors the first weekend of next month on Friday, Mar. 3, and Saturday, Mar. 4.

Buck said to begin with, he will be running limited hours in Laceyville because of other engagements he has to attend to, but plans to possibly increase hours based on the amount of business.

He noted that it feels good to be located in a river town where the community takes pride in the Susquehanna.

In addition, the location in Sugar Run will still operate as home base for kayak rentals and trips.

Buck plans to host kayak trips where groups will meet him in Laceyville, get shuttled to Sugar Run, and paddle back to Laceyville where they began.

“I’m located two blocks from the river,” Buck said. “If people come into Laceyville on trips, hopefully I can promote visiting places in the community.”

Along with the paddles from Sugar Run to Laceyville, Buck is entertaining opportunities for longer trips, possibly from Laceyville to Tunkhannock, or from Mehoopany to Tunkhannock.

He also plans to work closely withCampLackawannaand the North Branch Land Trust’s Howland Preserve to have stops along the river at those scenic locations.

While Buck isn’t sure exactly how long he will have his storefront in Laceyville, he looks forward to the opportunities that being down may bring.

“I had to make a decision to relocate,” Buck said. “And this opportunity arose, so I took it.”
