Hall refuses Barnes-Kasson board seat

BY STACI WILSON

Commissioner Alan Hall has refused to sit on the Barnes-Kasson Hospital Board unless some changes are made.

At the Feb. 8 commissioners’ meeting, Hall cited concerns about the structure of the board, nepotism and existing conflicts of interest of some board members as reasons for declining the seat.

Hall said he addressed Barnes-Kasson board members prior to a board meeting in early February.

The commissioner said that in order for him to accept the seat he insisted that members of the board who have family members employed at the hospital needed to resign from their positions.

He also advocated the board search for a new hospital director.

As part of the regular agenda, the commissioners approved payment for services utilized by the Children and Youth Dept.

The commissioners also renewed a one-year contract with Dr. Cama, of Towanda, to provide physician services at the county jail.
